The village of Quill Lake has been self-appointed as the goose quill capital of Saskatchewan due to the large number of goose quills deposited annually around the lakes. There were a few more murals there then I was able to take photos of and it reminded me a bit of a tourist town with a grocery store, small bit of shopping and the lake nearby. ~ Rabbit http://www.quilllake.ca

Watson, town of the Santa Claus Day. My family hasn't been able to attend this yet but it sounds like it is quite a festive event and the kids love it. The town has a festive bridge to walk across to the rest of the Christmas display. There is a huge Santa, a large present box and cut out shapes that you can place your face into. We all gave this one a try. There was a lovely garden area beside it and the town has a museum that we didn't have enough time to see. ~ Rabbit
http://www.townofwatson.ca Englefeld is a small town (village) known for it's yearly "Hog Fest" activities. It started as a fundraiser and became a yearly event in which at least 800 people come to. Events include fireworks, hogs cooked on spits, ball tournaments and other activities. I have not attended this event but I have heard it is quite enjoyable and the food is incredible. As we entered the town, we saw two pig statues and we pulled over to view them. The rotund pig has many different things on him so I have a few pictures from different angles. If you are thinking of visiting there, be sure to check out their website for details on "Hog Fest" and other things to see. It also has some pig facts, poems and stories. ~ Rabbit http://www.englefeld.ca Mount Carmel Shrine (Maraie De Monte Carmelo's) is in Carmel, Saskatchewan, Canada and one of my favorite places to visit. The place is well kept and peaceful. Many come and pray to her or attend their yearly event called "Rock the Mount." I haven't attended this but I understand it gets a lot of visitors. If you are unable to make the walk up the hill there is a road that will drive you up to the area however there is still a bit of a walk up to the shrine (for those who have troubles). I recommend checking it out. Below is more information on "Rock the Mount" if you are interested. ~ Rabbit http://www.rockthemount.com Driving around in the country we always come across some stuff not on a map. We took a route between Bruno heading towards Cudworth/Wakaw (at least this is the way we were originally driving) area and came across two old school locations (one per blog post - see the previous post). This one had the stone and I think a Canadian flag by it that wasn't doing so well. ~ Rabbit

This one is my favorite so far as it was not only well maintained but it also had a list of the old alumni and the exact land location. ~ Rabbit
